NYS Driver Education

The New York State Driver Education course provides students with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to become safe, responsible drivers. This comprehensive program includes classroom instruction aligned with NYS requirements and behind-the-wheel driving practice with a certified instructor. Students learn traffic laws, defensive driving strategies, decision-making skills, and the responsibilities that come with operating a motor vehicle. Upon successful completion of the course, students are eligible to receive the MV-285 Certificate, which may allow for a reduction in insurance premiums and supports the path toward full licensure.

Eligibility:
Students must have a valid learner’s permit or driver’s license prior to the start of the program.

Currently there is no credit toward graduation offered for Driver Education.
