Cooking on a Budget
1/2 Credit
As adulthood approaches, the reality of feeding oneself can be a scary task for young adults. Learning to cook is not only a life skill that is imperative to survival, but being able to stretch your paycheck so that you can feed yourself and others is a useful and enticing expertise to have in one’s repertoire. Students will not only learn how to budget for weekly meals that are satisfying and nutritionally balanced, but also kitchen etiquette, cleanliness, and safety. Students will even learn how to make many of their favorite guilty pleasure snacks that are unhealthy, homemade, healthier and cheaper because you were able to make it at home. Students will learn how to shop for deals, while not being “tricked” by advertising a deal that really does not exist. This course is designed for seniors to prepare them for the real world and those students will be given preference in priority for registration. If there are not enough seniors to fill the course, juniors will be considered.
